4 If within the said three years after your

arrival in the Colony it is established to the

satisfaction of the Government that you are not

qualified for efficient service there, it is to be

understood that the Government, subject to the

confirmation of the Secretary of State, has

full power to cancel your appointment without

any further compensation than a passage back

to England, which will be granted only upon

the report of the Governor that you have, by

your good conduct, deserved it. It will be

necessary for you to express your acceptance

of this condition before your appointment can

be completed.

5. It is of course to be understood that your

services will be available for any duties upon

which the Governor, in the interests of the

public service, may think it desirable to employ

you, and that it will be within his discretion

to station you in any part of the Colony where

he may consider your presence will be most

useful.

If you are prepared to accept the appoint-

ment now offered to you, it will be desirable

that you should present yourself to Dr. Brown, 88 Sloane St. for the purpose of being

medically examined, and transmit his certifi-

cate to this Department. Dr. Brown's

fee will be paid him by the Crown Agents. If appointed, you will be entitled to half

salary from the date of your embarkation from

this country.

pared to leave for the Colony, in order that

the necessary communications may be made
